Applied Research & Advisory Services
We provide data driven, technical and strategic advice on municipal utilities and municipal infrastructure development and financing. The sector faces a plethora of problems, from inefficient business models due to technological and environmental disruptions, shrinking capital budgets to finance infrastructure, decreasing revenues, poor customer interface indicates an urgent need to review the infrastructure service delivery models. The frequent interruption of water services, failure of sanitation infrastructure, uncollected waste while the electricity load-shedding risk has materialized have serious implications for the South African economy. These failures are occurring notwithstanding considerable policy reforms directed at equitable access to services, large scale investment in infrastructure and the required technical skills coupled with successive technical capacity building programmes. Our research supports organizations and leaders to take a deeper look at multiple dimensions of the source of the problems and the related multiple perspectives required to resolve them
